November 2010 Photo Roundup

Here is my collection of photos from November 2010:

The first weekend of November was Mona's Birthday (11/5) and Sigma Omega Nu's 14th Anniversary (11/6). I drove up to SLO for the weekend with Alma, Yvonne, and Evelyn to participate in the festivities.

Me and my big sis before heading out to Native Lounge for Mona's Birthday Party

The "old, married ladies"

Me and the birthday girl

Sonya, Evy, and I went in on a bottle of champagne for Mona's 27th

I think she liked her present

Cheers to the birthday girl

Founder's Day Activities with the pledges from Founding Chapter and Kappa Colony

This is my team during the relay races

The last part of the relay race was "Suck and Blow"

Team 4 WON!! (Me, Clary, Adriana, Brenda, Krista, Natali, Brenda R., and Brenda A.)

The next activity was Tug 'o' War: Sisters versus Pledges

In the first round, the sisters totally owned the pledges. Poor Krista slipped and fell on the pledges' side!

Go, sisters, go! Of course, the sisters won!

Night 2: We all went out to Downtown Brew

Me and my dirty martini

Alma and me

The end of the night--all the sisters celebrating 14 years of SON sisterhood at Cal Poly, SLO

Yvonne and I in front of Bubble Gum Alley

Tanya visited from New York the next weekend. Here we are at Loaded Rock Bar in Hollywood

Emily, Tanya, and me out in Hollywood

The night before Thanksgiving, we went out to celebrate Matt Bench's birthday . . . the bars were insanely crowded, so we ended up going back to Jenn and Barry's house

Tiffanee, Matt, Barry, and Fernando

Me and my extended Pacific Sales family

Fernando cooked the turkey on Thanksgiving at my parents' house

My plate on Turkey Day--yummy!

On November 27, Fernando and I went to see Weezer at the Gibson Amphiteatre. We had dinner at Karl Strauss Brewing Co. first.

Of course, we both had to get the beer sampler

Weezer performed Pinkerton in its entirety! So boss.

I Feel Better

Just so you know, I am feeling better about the whole "being rejected from grad school again" situation. I know I'm smart, I know I have a bright future ahead of me, and I know I have options. I just needed a little time to wallow in self-pity. Don't we all need that sometimes?

I suppose Vegas may have had something to do with it. One night of party-'til-you-black-out-kind of partying will do that for you (Don't worry, family members who might be reading this--I didn't actually black out, but I did wake up with a nasty hangover brought on by too much Hennessy). Actually, any Hennessy is too much Hennessy. Not.My.Drink.

I'm leaving for NYC on Saturday. I think I already miss Fernando, but the trip should be fun enough to make up for the missing him.

Items on the agenda for New York City:

  • Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island Tour
  • Central Park (and Strawberry Fields)
  • Central Park Zoo
  • The Metropolitan Museum of Art
  • The Guggenheim
  • Hip Hop tour of Harlem (entitled "Walk This Way")
  • Gothan Comedy Club
  • MoMA
  • Times Square
  • walking the entire length of the Brooklyn Bridge
  • Staten Island Ferry
  • Ground Zero
  • lots of good food and drink

Sadly, I don't think I'll have time to see a Broadway show. My 10th grade self would totally punch me for saying that, but it's cool. My traveling companion doesn't have the funds for a Broadway show, so I'll have to save that for my next trip to NY (whenever that may be). And I'll be sure to bring Fernando along with me on the next trip.
